Suggested membership contributions 2004 The International Federation of Arts Councils and Culture Agencies (IFACCA), the first global network of national arts funding bodies, is funded by membership contributions, grants from foundations, and sponsorships. In 2002-03 the Federation’s expenditure was around $AUD300,000. There are two categories of IFACCA membership: national and affiliate. National membership The table over the page lists suggested contributions for IFACCA’s national members for 2004. National members are defined as ‘national arts councils or government agencies whose primary role it is to support the arts and culture through funding and/or promotion.’ Members have voting rights and are required to make appropriate financial contributions to support the Federation. IFACCA also offers affiliate membership. How did the board calculate member contributions? In 2000 the board first considered the three-year budget required to establish the Federation with a small secretariat and website. To achieve this budget, the board set a sliding range of contributions based on the United Nations (UN) Scale of Assessments. From 1 January 2004 membership contributions are expressed in Australian dollars (AUD) only. What is your contribution? The annual contribution is your country’s UN Scale multiplied by $AUD20,000 and rounded. The Board has introduced a contribution ceiling of $AUD100,000 and a contribution floor of $AUD100. The contribution covers 1 January to 30 December. What if you want to contribute more? In several cases, members have offered to contribute more than the UN Scale figure. The board is hopeful that others might wish to follow this lead. What if the contribution is too high? The board realises that some arts council budgets do not reflect their nation’s UN Scale and that the set contribution may be unrealistically high. In this case, the board invites proposals for a lesser contribution. More details about membership can be found at www.ifacca.org. Organisations committed to public support for the arts, including public or private institutions involved in advocacy, policy or research about arts and culture, and public or private arts funders, foundations and endowments; and 2.Individual professionals with expertise relevant to IFACCA’s objectives who are not employed by or involved with an organisation that could reasonably be expected to be an ‘organisational’ affiliate. IFACCA offers five categories of affiliate membership, as set out below. Fees for 2004 are quoted in Australian dollars (AUD). Benefactors are encouraged to improve on the amount suggested. Conversely, if supporting information is provided, the board of IFACCA will consider applications under the reduced fee category on a case-by-case basis.
